First Year MDiv students should add $1000 to cover the costs of purchasing Logos software and a laptop computer.

Student Income

The following information is included in order to calculate financial need. Calvin Theological Seminary uses standard U.S. Federal Government procedures for calculating a student's financial need. (Please report in U.S. Dollars).





Many scholarships and all financial aid are based on financial need. This is determined by calculating the difference between your income and your expenses. In order to calculate an accurate figure, please complete the box below. If you do not know at this time, please write "Unknown." When you are informed of any further support, contact the financial aid office to report the amount.

International Students Only



Loans and Subsidies (Canadian Students Only)

You must request a specific amount for each loan.

Available for Canadian citizens, restrictions apply, low interst rate, separate application form required from Financial Aid office in September 2006.


Available for North American students studying for CRC service, 6% interest rate.


Available for North American students living on campus. Limited funds available for rent, restrictions apply (available for students living off campus in special circumstances).







A subsidy is provided to Canadian Students in order to offset some of the expenses incurred while studying in the United States. A payment of $200 per quarter will be posted to the student account if all the qualifications are met.

In order to qualify a student must verify that 50% or more of their funding is coming from a Canadian source, and their student account balances (including rent, tuition, insurance and all other fees) must be paid in full by the tuition due date. Due dates for tuition are Fall - October 15, Winter - February 15, Spring - April 15, and Summer - August 15.

Students are responsible for completing the certification regarding the 50% income requirement. In addition, the student must provide a statement of support from the classical student fund committee indicating the amount of support and the policies. Forms are available in the financial aid office. Current balance information may be obtained from the website.

Calvin Theological Seminary requires full disclosure of all financial indebtedness of all applicants for all loans granted or endorsed by Calvin Theological Seminary. These loans include Perkins, Stafford, Albert Postman Loan, Ministry Incentive Program and Canada Student Loans. The information provided about indebtedness is intended for use by the financial aid office to alert applicants to potentially heavy debt repayments which they will face when they leave Calvin Theological Seminary. It may also be used to alert an applicant's congregation and classis to the applicant's financial needs.

  1. I have read all information pertaining to the regulations for applying for financial aid.
  2. Any Financial Aid I receive will be used solely for expenses related to attending Calvin Theological Seminary.
  3. If I attend another college either during the summer or during the academic year at the same time I am attending Calvin, and receive financial aid to attend that school, I will inform Calvin Theological Seminary Financial Aid Office of the aid received.
  4. I will report to the Financial Aid Office at Calvin Theological Seminary any other financial aid I receive. I understand that if I receive aid in addition to what I receive at Calvin Theological Seminary, Calvin will reevaluate my other aid and make adjustments if necessary.
