Master of Arts - Missions - Frequently Asked Questions
- Do I have to take Greek? No. None of the courses in the M.A. program require Greek or Hebrew.
- What kinds of concentrations exist in the program? People enrolled in the master of arts can specialize in foreign missions, domestic missions, new church development, pastoral care, youth ministry, worship, educational ministries, and other forms of ministries. The program has a number of elective slots available so that students can adjust their program to their specific needs.
- How is the M.A. structured? Essentially, the program is divided into four parts - biblical, theological, general ministry, and concentration. Students take courses in each of these categories.
- Can I attend part-time? Definitely. In fact, the seminary has specifically designed this program to meet the needs of part-time students. All courses are block-time formatted.
- What is block-time format? This means that courses meet once per week.
- Are all courses in the evening? No, many students are currently employed by churches. The seminary then schedules courses to meet mornings, afternoons, and evenings. Each course meets only once per week. The goal is to meet the various scheduling needs of students.
- Are any courses offered online? Calvin Theological Seminary does have an online degree program - the Master of Arts in Missions (New Church Development). Only students admitted to the NCD program may enroll in online courses.
