Conversation Partners
Consider serving as a Conversation Partner with an American student at Calvin College.
Why?
The purpose of this program is to give seminarian international students a chance to speak regularly with American students so as to increase their ability to speak and understand English. In addition, the American college students get one credit for participating.
What?
. You will be assigned a student from Calvin College to be your partner.
The expectation is that you will meet to talk for an hour about two times
a week.
. Your conversations will be based on the book American Ways by Gary Althen
which can be found in Calvin's bookstore.
When?
. Opening meeting
. Partners will meet each other and further instructions will be given.
. American and seminarian partners can choose the time and place to meet
for their conversations, a time that is convenient for both. For mothers
with young children, many female college students are willing to meet
at your house.
How to apply?
. Please contact Linda Bosch via email lbosch@calvin.edu as soon as possible. Email your name, gender, email address and say when you arrived in the US.
