Spouse & Family Ministry

Calvin Seminary Spouse and Family Ministries connects spouses and families to one another, providing an atmosphere of care and hospitality, and encourages spouses to grow spiritually to be shaped more fully as disciples of Jesus Christ.

Spouse and Family Ministries is for all Calvin Seminary spouses, female and male, international and North American, including student couples.  Spouse and Family Ministries is led and coordinated by Jackie Medenblik through the Dean of Students Office.  For more information, contact the Dean of Students Office.

Regular groups and events

Spouse and Family Ministries offers regular activities to encourage you in your walk with Christ and provide fellowship with other Seminary spouses. Regular offerings include:

  • Mentoring groups
  • Social events

Spouses and families are also invited to participate in many of the Seminary social activities, including regular potlucks, the all-Seminary picnic and the international Christmas dinner.

Other family resources

  • Groceries, clothing, shoes, and various household items are available free of charge to seminarians and their families through the Idema Food Pantry and Clothing Bank
  • Counseling – Subsidized marriage counseling is available for students with the seminary paying $50.00 per session and the student paying the balance, normally $20 per session. In addition, Calvin Seminary works with a number of licensed therapists to provide counseling for a reduced co-pay, usually $10.00. Learn more.
  • Spouses can participate in Seminary classes (as space allows) at no cost.  Spouses of Calvin Seminary students may participate in classes as visitors (with the exception of PhD level courses).  Each spouse visitor must contact Kenzie Krumm in the Academic Office to sign up for the course before attending class.
  • As you plan to attend Calvin Seminary and need information about area schools, doctors, family activities, and more, see the Grand Rapids guide (pdf) published by Seminary students each year.

Don’t forget to check out all of the campus amenities available to you and your family as a Seminary student.

How to Get Involved
