Scholarly Opportunities

Calvin Theological Seminary features several specialized centers and institutes that can enrich your study, ministry, and spiritual formation.

Discover an interdisciplinary hub focused on the theology, history, and practice of Christian worship. This institute is committed to the renewal of worship in faith communities across North America and beyond.

Be inspired by resources designed to help pastors write fresh, vibrant sermons. This center sparks ideas and jumpstarts creativity for preachers who have the holy, but also daunting, privilege of preaching God’s Word to God’s people.

Participate in international scholarship in the Reformed, catholic tradition of Herman Bavinck (1854–1921), the Dutch theologian and author of Reformed Dogmatics; his nephew, the pioneer missiologist Johan Herman Bavinck; and his neo-Calvinist contemporaries, such as Abraham Kuyper, Willem Geesink, and B. B. Warfield.

Get a firsthand look at a collection of materials on John Calvin, Calvinism, and the Reformation. Established in 1982, the Meeter Center makes scholarly research on Calvinism available to scholars and the wider community. The center’s extensive collection of books (including rare books) and articles attracts researchers from all over the world.

The Institute for Mission, Church and Culture

Engage actionable theology and resources for congregations and Christian leaders seeking to faithfully participate in God’s mission in the world. This institute aims to cultivate the priesthood of all believers, while planting and renewing congregations.

More Steps for Choosing a Seminary

A campus tour is just one step in the journey to choosing the seminary that’s right for you. There are other factors to consider when choosing a seminary, such as:

Denominational affiliation

As a Reformed seminary, Calvin is a place where all Christian learners can thrive. Expert Reformed theologians and biblical scholars will guide your learning in classes that are small enough to foster an environment of open inquiry and deep learning, and where each person can share from their tradition’s theological perspectives.

Accreditation

High-quality learning happens here. Calvin Theological Seminary holds accredited membership in the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada (ATS).

Community

Community is key to your growth as a ministry leader. At Calvin, we prioritize meaningful relationships with our students to foster personal and spiritual growth throughout our learning community.

Program options

Your calling matters, and we have a program to equip you. If you’re considering multiple programs, a visit can help you decide between your available options.

Financial aid

Calvin provides tuition assistance to our students each year. During your visit, you will have the opportunity to discuss tuition and financial aid with our team.
