When she returned to the States she began working with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship on the MSU campus. She was invited to join the faculty of the MSU Horticulture Department, completing her Masters Degree in Counseling shortly after that. For twenty-five years she worked as an Academic Adviser, Curriculum Specialist, Instructor, and Counselor at MSU. She began working part time at River Terrace Church in East Lansing in 1996 as the Director of Spiritual Growth and Development. She became a certified Spiritual Director in 1997. In 1999 she was ordained as a Ministry Associate in the CRC. Pat is serving at Calvin Theological Seminary on a part-time basis as Formation for Ministry Specialist.
"I grew up as a young child believing that Jesus was my Savior. In high school I was invited to acknowledge him as the Lord of my life. That meant giving all I knew of myself to all I knew of God each and every day. I soon realized that this would be a very dynamic relationship commitment because I was always learning new things about myself and I was always learning new things about God. In InterVarsity I learned to immerse myself in the Scriptures daily, I learned how to pray, and I learned how to share my faith with others. They taught me how to become a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ. The opportunity to help support, equip, and spiritually form students for the work God has called them to, has been a life time calling for me."
Pat is married and lives in East Lansing with her husband Bernie who is a professor at MSU. They have three children (Sarah, Rebecca, and Jacob). Pat loves to read and travel.
