Professor Michael Williams’ Last Chapel

As he prepares for his retirement, Professor Michael Williams offered a final sermon at the Calvin Seminary chapel on May 2, 2018.

In this sermon, titled “Some Final Words About Final Words,” Williams reflects on the importance of the words between people as well as God’s words to us.  A professor of Old Testament and Hebrew, Williams notes his interest in words and how significant words can be

in our lives.  Noting how we are often saying and receiving “final words” with people who move in and out of our life, Williams encouraged his listeners to consider deeply the use of language in our life and our relationships.  He both begins and concludes with God’s words to us – words of encouragement and hope: life-giving words.

Calvin Seminary is grateful for Professor Williams’ 24 years of teaching and service.  He will be missed greatly in the classroom and in the community.  We wish him all the best in this new chapter in his life.
